NAD-500 (NAD-11) high temperature insulation is an asbestos-free cement board with excellent electrical properties. A high density cement board reinforced with inorganic fibres, NAD-500 (NAD-11) is suitable for applications requiring continuous operation in temperatures up to 500°C.

NAD 500 is used in heat and electrical insulation applications in induction furnaces, billet heater boxes, oven cladding, cathode support pads, platen insulation, furnaces and smelters.
In highly aggressive environments the surface of NAD 500 can be treated to increase durability. The surface can also be treated to make the material hydrophobic.
Typical applications where NAD 500 high temperature insulation is used are :
  • Cathode support pads
  • General insulation
  • Electrical busbars
  • Platen insulation
  • Element supports
  • Oven cladding
  • Furnace plates
  • Induction furnaces

 Advantages of NAD-500 are:
  • Dimensional stability
  • Mechanical strength at temperature
  • Non-combustible
  • Good machining characteristics
  • Chemically inert
  • Asbestos-free

NAD-11 is used outside of Europe and NAD-500 is used in Europe.
The material is able to be cut and machined to give high definition edges using traditional machining techniques.
Sheet sizes generally are 1220 x 910mm and a thickness range from 6mm to 75mm.
Material data sheet available on request detailing full material properties.
Caparo Insulation can cut and machine to your design or your desired cut panel and will only be too happy to quote for full machining of your insulation requirements. Please contact us with your request.
