Melting is a physical process which heats a substance from a solid form to liquid. The application of heat and pressure causes a substance to reach melting point. Once completely melted, the object is molten. Caparo Insulation has a variety of high temperature insulation boards suitable for most distribution or cladding requirements in non ferrous molten metal processes. Non Wetting, Strength and Flexibility are key for materials used in molten applications.

Monalite, an asbestos-free calcium silicate board, is amongst these materials and has a grade that is heat treated at the factory to provide improved performance at high temperatures. Structurally strong and dimensionally stable, monalite is easy to machine and fabricate and will not distort or crumble when hot or under the action of pouring, thus there is less risk of contaminating castings. Its use eliminates the need for a foundry face wash. Substantial energy savings and improved metal quality can be achieved through the low thermal capacity and insulating properties of Monalite.

With products for applications in non-ferrous metal production, Caparo Insulation takes pride in making exceptional products to meet customer requirements.

Materials can be cut, machined and assembled into the following components:
  • Launders – troughs
  • Holding baths
  • Distributor boxes – pouring bowls – reservoirs
  • Spouts – dip tubes
  • Flow gates
  • Baffles
  • Skimmers
  • Stoppers
  • Floats
  • Hot top ring units
  • Feeder tip units
