Caparo Insulation, formerly CMT Insulation, is part of CMT Engineering, a member of Caparo Engineering Limited, (part of the Caparo Group) and was established in 1986.  The company is based in Cradley Heath, West Midlands, and is comprised of four operating divisions:                         
  • CMT Tube Fittings - manufacturer and stockholder of Steel Pipe Fittings and associated products for the Gas, Water and Steam industries.
  • Caparo Insulation - manufacturer of components for use in induction furnaces and electrical switchgear and stockists of insulation materials.        
  • Caparo Dynamics - manufacturer of anti-vibration, noise and shock mounts for the defence establishments, industrial and commercial applications.
  • Caparo Clamps - Manufacturer of injection moulded clamps, fixtures and associated products  for the finishing and D.I.Y industries.
The company maintains Design and Development processes to respond effectively to the needs and requirements of its products and customers.
 
A Brief History of Caparo Insulation: 
  • 1930's - The company was established, known as Engineering Insulation Ltd, later CMT Insulation, trading from premises in Halesowen Road, Netherton.
  • 1962 – Moved to a larger premises also located in Halesowen Road, Netherton. 
  • 1974 – Moved to purpose built factory located on the Portersfield Trading Estate, Cradley Heath.
  • 1981 – Acquired by Caparo Industries when they purchased the CMT Group.
  • 1982 – As part of a major group reorganisation programme, CMT Insulation was moved to the site occupied by Tube Fittings in Corngreaves Road, Cradley Heath. 
  • 1991 – Gained BS5750 Accreditation from Lloyds.
  • 1994 – Gained ISO 9001 Accreditation from Lloyds.
  • 1996 – CNC technology introduced with purchase of miller.
  • 1999 - Heavy duty Beamsaw purchased
  • 1999 - Asbestos products banned in November, forcing the company to utilise new products.
  • 2000 - Further CNC investment occurs.
  • 2007 - Caparo Group aquires Splinter group resulting in further investment.
  • 2008 - Record 240 18ft bed CNC router and SCM beamsaw purchased.
  • 2009 - CNC Sander bought to enhance sanding precision.
  • 2010 - CMT Insulation now rebranded to "Caparo Insulation" to follow Caparo Group branding inline with worldwide group brand.
  • 2014 - New Website launched.
